A new New Orlanes could be built. The below sea level portions of the city could become the Venice of the New World while filling in Lake Ponchatrain for urban expansion, above sea level. What do the people from Louisiana and the South say to my idea???
FDR gave his first noted speech after he was crippled by polio.
JFK had terrible pain from his various medical ailments.
Bill Clinton had grew up without his natural father, had to watch as he could do nothing to stop for a long time his mother being beaten by his stepfather. Thirdly he had the gene for red hair which in men makes men have a lower pain thereshold.
All great speakers, all subject to terrible pain in their lives, is there any proof of a connection???
Is a book written in the 1950's called The Liberal Tradition in America by Louis Hartz. For a scholarly work it's a page turner. On another note if you all can find it on C-SPAN the conservative Young American's Foundation event suggesting what books that young conservatives should read was pathetic and scary at the same time. It aired 8/5/05. We should activate an Open thread on the books we think young people should actually read.

Makes you wonder where our society is headed..... In other actually important news there was a Mayoral election in San Diego today and their will be an election in Southern Ohio for Congress next week I think.
But in today's political climate I don't think the nation would be wise enough to elect her. Therfore we have to choose among a list of people who are effectively second tier, save one person who I don't think is running namely Chris Dodd.
